Hall of Fame basketball player, Elvin Hayes (then on the #1-ranked Houston Cougars), holding great little Irvington athlete Michael Ahearn after a Small Fry All-Star game held at halftime at the old Madison Square Garden. I also see Mike Fenner, Bobby Aiello, Danny Darpino, Mike Vargas. Can’t recognize the others. That was the same Houston Cougar team that earlier in the year upset Lew Alcindor and the UCLA Bruins at the Astrodome. Michael Ahearn swished three outside shots at the Garden that night. I was there and it was incredibly cool to see !!!
